Fix the Saferide
The DU Shuttle is broken
When surveyed, 54% of DU students found the shuttle
unreliable or very unreliable. As a vital service to students, and as a service that relies on your funds to operate, the DU Shuttle has plenty of room for improvement. Help us make the saferide more accessible by sharing your thoughts. Help us implement a mobile website, service schedule times, gps tracking, and more options for students
Three Step Solution
There are three simple steps that I think will fix the safe ride. We are close to completing the first one,
can you help with the rest?
Step One : Make the Schedule Accessible
The shuttle runs on a very specific and accurate route. The trips are audited regularly, and the drivers stay on schedule. A big complaint from students is that they
don't know when the shuttle runs and when the shuttle comes to your stop. In order to fix this, I created a
new map which much more accurately represents the campus than the previous map. This has been hung up in the residents halls. We have also purchased outdoor
signs of the schedule that are going to be hung up at shuttle stops. By spreading information on the shuttle times and stops we can hopefully overcome the number one complaint from students.

Step Two : Accessibility
The shuttle is currently not accessible. The route, the times, and the vehicles themselves are not accessible. I would like your help to
make the Saferide work for students, not for administrators.
Step Three : Mobile Website
Many students take the shuttle on their way home, and many don't feel safe waiting for the Shuttle outside in the dark. In order to make the Saferide even more accessible, I propose creating a mobile website that can be accessed on any simple smartphone or computer. The website would track each vehicle through a fairly inexpensive
GPS system. The site would also contain information about hours and stops.
A mobile website would save students time and help keep them safe.
